I might lose an eye!!

Well I thought it was about time I gave you all an update on my exercise progress!!

I am happy to report that so far it’s going okay.  I ended up having a day off on Sunday and Tuesday but I figure that is acceptable.

I’ve been struggling to get up in the mornings as it gotten a bit cold here in Brisbane but I have been trying making an effort in the evening.  Admittedly I only did 30 minutes in the cross trainer on Monday night but I figured that was better than nothing.

Tonight I managed an hour although, I did have to endure being shot constantly with a nerf gun and I had to have a sword fight with my son while trying not to fall off the cross trainer.  I’m starting to think that trying to exercise with my son around could prove to be more dangerous than anything else, I’m sure I nearly lost an eye tonight!

This week I thought I’d try and add an in-home Yoga class… It might be a little safer!!

Below is some Yoga classes that can be done at home, I thought I’d share the links in case there is anyone else that would like to give it a go!!

Need a little push...

So this is my first ever blog and just quietly, I’m a little scared about it!!  I’ve decided to write about life as a single working mum and the struggle to find time to exercise, I figure if I put it out there then it might motivate me to get up and get active again!

Exercising use to be such a big part of my life but these days between my 3 year old son, work and now uni, exercise has become my last priority.  It all use to be so easy but now I struggle to make time for exercising.

I know that it’s important to stay fit and healthy, not only for me but for the sake of my son as well and I know a part of me is just being lazy and using the excuse ‘it’s too hard’ when the truth is I could do it if I really wanted to!!

I really use to like to exercise early in the morning and in all honesty I have a little gym set up in my garage, yet every night I set my alarm for 5.15am the following morning but every morning I turn it off choosing to sleep for another 45minutes.

Tonight I decided that’s it, I need to get back into it so I went to my garage and hoped on my Elliptical trainer  (cross trainer) and made a promise that I wasn’t getting off until I had done 45 minutes!! You’ll be pleased to know that I even though my son was in the garage throwing balls at me (it’s his play room as well) I did it, I completed my first goal!

I think that this is a problem that a lot of people are faced with these days, not only single working mums but all parents, we get so use to putting everyone else first that we forget about ourselves..  I have included some short in home work outs for other people that might be struggling in the hope that this might give them the push they need to get back into exercise also.

I’m also making a pledge that tonight I’m setting my alarm for 5.15am and I am going to get up and get back on the Elliptical trainer no matter how tired I am.  I will keep you posted on my progress, wish me luck!!
